Beti Bachao, Dietary Education Plan is designed to solve the falling child sex ratio. Initially, this scheme was started in 100 selected districts in 2015. It is a three-Ministerial initiative of Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and Human Resource Development with Ministry of Women and Child Development. On April 19, 2016, 'Beti Bachao, Beti Pachao Program' (BBBP) was started in 61 additional districts of lesser sex ratio of 11 States / UTs. In the first year of this scheme introduced by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, 49 per cent increase in sex ratio has been seen in the BBBP districts. In BBBP districts, there is a target of minimum 10 points increase in sex ratio at birth and in the next five years, the goal of gradually increasing it has been fixed. Some other accomplishments have also been achieved by this scheme, which include drop in school dropouts of girls, 100 percent institutional deliveries, formation of Gudda-doll board in every village, safety of girls / women and toilets for girls in schools.
